Emalie Belokon, 16, of Aventura was selected to represent Team USA in karate at the 20th Maccabiah Games. This Olympic-style event for Jewish athletes from around the world is June 27-July 18 in Israel. “For me, karate is a form of art that allows me to express my creativity,” she said. “It is wonderful to have that feeling of knowing that there is always an opportunity to learn more, and there is always room to grow. Key West for the active Miamian

“72 Hours in Paradise” By: Liza M. Santana Miamians have long known of the gorgeous paradise that serves as a wonderful “quick weekend getaway.” By hopping in a car for few short hours, you will be relaxed just by the site of the palm-lined streets, gingerbread mansions, conch houses, and what seems to be perfect weather all the time. If you are looking for some history, head over to the John Audubon House or Ernest Hemingway’s home which is open for the public to visit. From tons of entertainment to eclectic art, theater, Key West is still one of the most beloved places for the active Miami professional. From water excursions, late night parties, beaches, fabulous resorts, Key West has a little something for everyone. In three days, one can grasp what this welcoming city has to offer. Key West, can serve as a rest and relaxation spot, a romantic interlude with your other half or just a way to learn more about Florida but in a very casual setting. Never a hassle, you can check out attractions on foot or via popular favorite forms of transportation, like scooters, pedi-cabs, bicycles, tour trains, and trolleys. The “southernmost” spot is perfect for the active Miami professional looking to disconnect under some blue skies and enjoying some of the great things Key West has to offer to include watersports, fishing, diving,...

Miami by Day: Beyond the Beach

In this sunny paradise there are days that the earth needs watering or sometimes you just want to explore elsewhere other than the beach. When you are on vacation with the kids and the rain comes, panic stinks in, what are you going to do with the kids because you were planning on going to the beach? Miami has many indoor activities that will fulfill your kids need to do that “something”. There is the Miami’s Children Museum and Miami Science Museum which are focused towards kids. They will be entertained while their brains suck up new knowledge. If your child is in to trains make sure you take them to the Gold Coast Railroad Museum. There are multiple indoor playgrounds like Cool-de-Sac and Play au Lait that combine the playground experience with an air conditioned experience. Grapeland Water Park is exactly that, a waterpark. There are places that your kids will love but so will anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to have close encounters with animals that are not your pets or just like an adventure. Jungle Island has Monkeys, Parrots, Lemurs, Tigers, Ligers, Kangaroos… the list goes on and on. The VIP tour is something I highly suggest as it allows you to enter with areas and touch animals that you otherwise would not be allowed to touch. While the Miami Seaquarium offers fantastic shows by...

Communities

Miami is an international destination that people desire to visit, vacation, explore the nightlife, create businesses and indulge by living the exotic lifestyle of tropical beaches in combination with having access to big city. Each community within Miami offers something a little different. Whether you are looking for ocean front living or small town charm, the communities within Miami will meet all of your expectations. Aventura is one of the most prestigious communities located in the north, having prominent oceanfront properties and convenient access to boat marinas and beaches. Aventura allows its residents to indulge in a luxurious lifestyle. It’s next door neighbor, Sunny Isles, is a beautiful community with ocean front property that will even impress the elite. Easy access to the beach, restaurants and fun attracts many to this beautiful community. Brickell, is known as the finance district and is located within the downtown area. Brickell’s convenient location provides access to transportation like the metro rail and metro bus system, and is filled with fabulous restaurants and a spectacular night scene. Coconut Grove is one of the only places in Miami that you can find the good-old Florida boys drinking a beer after being on a boat all day. The Grove is definitely more of a bohemian crowd but never-the-less, the foliaged area is a great place to raise a family and live the boater’s lifestyle. The home of...
